Marketing job callback?
So I just graduated with a bachelors in marketing. I applied to this one company and had a first interview with them. I asked when they would have their decision and they said “in about a week, we have a few more people to interview.” Well over a week later there was no call and I had stuff going on so I called to check in. One of them said the other guy was on vacation and should be getting going on their decision. That day I called I then noticed the classified ad for the position was back and had a submission date a week down the road. It has now been a week since that submission date. That’s like a good 3 to 4 weeks since the interview. I want to know what’s up but I already called once and don’t want to bother them really. What should I do?
Well you may want to just move on. Or if its a good job, its worth fighting for! Have a look at your resume and cover letter..was it the best it could be? You could re-write it, and add in your cover letter that you appreciate the time they took to consider you before, and you look forward to learning more and discussing the position further.
Employers are getting picky because they can’t afford bad hires in this economy. Its possible they didn’t really get to know you in the interview. Learn what employers are learning about hiring and you can use the same tools to ensure YOU are the right fit, and that you are remembered and stand out amongst the pile of resumes.
