Is there a message board I can post on where people might identify the painter of an old painting I own?
The artist’s signature in the corner of the painting is illegible to me, but the name appears to be French and beside the name is written the date ‘76, so I think it was painted in 1876 or possibly 1776. Is there a forum where people might know about very obscure old painters, where I can post pics of the painting & the artist’s signature and people might know who this artist is? Thanks for any guidance!

Look under Arts and Humanities then look for the expert that seems most likely to be able to answer your question. Also send a photo of the whole painting and of the signature even if it is non legible. It’s a free site and they are good at what they do.
