Why is dating in islam haram?

I mean i know the basics of how it can lead to pre-marital sex
and that a man and a woman cant be alone in a room because the third thing in the room with them will be shatan i also know that the only way that a man and a woman can be together is marriage but i mean what if you end up marring the person and they turn out to be sometihng you don’t like ? what then? get a divorce and then start over again with another marriage? and that to me just doesn’t sound like a good idea ….so wouldn’t dating be a better idea than just going through all that ? plus i wouldn’t really wanna get married to someone i can barley get a chance to know because the only way i can get to know them is through dating plus also i know that obviously in Christianity dating is allowed im pretty sure but they have a way to avoid pre-matrial sex i think they wear something called purity rings

1. Because dating in the western sense of the word is making a mockery out of marriage. Marriage is a serious commitment between two people, while dating is always understood as a temporary thing (unless a miracle happens and he proposes), and so this type of relationship is never taken seriously by the people involved. One small fight and you’re ready to find the next person to have a fling with.
2. It leads to things that are haram. Very rarely do you find a couple who are dating that have never had sex, never had physical contact, never been alone together, and never had sexual thoughts about the other. Because of dating, children are born out of wedlock, std’s spread like wildfire, and people learn that when there’s a fight, big or small, you don’t need to work on it, you just move on to the next person. Most likely why the divorce rate is so high here in the US (50%).

…in a nutshell.

Also it’s about temptation, just because you’re wearing a purity ring doesn’t mean you won’t want to take it off if you’re tempted enough. Everything that is haram is haram because it is potentially harmful for you. Those rules are made for your own good, but it is up to the individual if he/she wants to protect himself/herself or not.
