Guitar Strings – Acoustic and Steel ! ?

okokok so i have an acoustic guitar, it is a westfield, a big chunky thing but gee i love it.so yeah ive been playing for about a year and a week or so, I had the original strings and they cut my fingers up into diced pieces so i changed them to Martin acoustic guitar strings (medium) it helped a little but still killed after a while so i have changed, again,i changed to extra light martin acoustic and they still hurt my fingers quite a tad, although slightly better except on the 1st string highest e cause i broke the string and only had spare light rather than the rest which are still at extra light.
anyway how long will it take before my fingers ajust or am i past my sell-by date and should concider nylon strings or something? THAAANKS:)

There’s no way to give an exact time line on this sort of thing. It depends on how much you play and practice. Another consideration is how hard you’re pushing on the strings. If you’re not taking lessons, get a more experienced player to watch carefully and make sure you’re not working at it harder than you need to. You may be able to do the same thing by experimenting with lightening the pressure to see how much lighter you can go and still get a tone. The other thing that may need to be done will take a little money. If the guitar has not been professionally set up, the strings may be too high above the frets. I’m not familiar with that brand but a competent tech should be able to make the necessary adjustments. If that’s the problem, you’ll be amazed at what a difference it will make. Good luck and keep playing.
