The major battles of the Civil War were The First Battle of Bull Run, The Second Battle of Bull Run, The battle of Gettysburg, The Battle of Antietam, The battle of Shiloh, Fort Donelson/Fort Henry, the battle of Fort Sumter, Appomattox, the battle of Chancellorsville, the battle of Fredericksburg, the battle of Chattanooga, the battle of Vicksburg, Sherman’s March to the Sea, Monitor vs. Merrimack, The battle of Wilderness(?), and Cold Harbor.

Date- August 28-30 1862
Location- Prince William County Virginia

Sherman’s March To Sea.
Sherman was sent by Grant to go destroy the South. Sherman started in Chattanooga, and destroyed everything in his path burning buildings killing civilians, etc.
Some of the major places he destroyed were:
Atlanta
Savannah
Bentonville
Columbia.
Sherman shortened the Civil War.
