Failure to Maintain Control (Virginia)?
Over the weekend i was involved in a one car accident in roanoke virginia. I was traveling down one of the curvy mountain roads and lost control of my car coming around a corner, i went off the road and hit an embankment on the side of the road. The police officer that responded issued my a summons with the violation “failure to maintain control” and i have a mandatory court date scheduled. There was also no speed limit where i was involved in the accident, the police officer told me himself. My question is, what exactly will i be looking at when i go to court? a fine? something more harsh? I’m 19 years old and have never had any kind of prior tickets/accidents or any other run in with the law. Just wondering what i should be expecting when i go to court.
