Should the Bulls draft Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley?
All the hype with Rose is that he will become this great point Guard on the level of Chris Paul, but where is all that talent when you look at how he did in College ball? I don’t understand how the Bull’s could take someone who averaged 14.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, and 4.4 apg, over a guy who as a freshmen had one of the most dominant years in College basketball history. 26.5 points-per-game and 12.5 rebounds-per-game? Are you serious? How could you possibly pass that up? This is exactly like Oden and Durant last year, and we all know who got the better deal in that one. Oden was projected to be this big-man superstar presence in Portlands starting five, but not only did he have worse numbers in college than Durant, he got injured, and hasn’t played a game in the NBA to date. Kevin Durant is, and always will be a better player than Oden, and the same thing applies with Rose and Beasley. Beasley is just better.
OK , first of all, Oden has only missed his first season, you make it sound like he has been injured for a decade in the league, the guy is 19!
Too early to know how good both players will turn out to be and you cant measure their success on stats alone since both players play different positions. In 10yrs we will know who got the better deal, but its ridiculous to jump to conclusions after only 1 season, and even more ridiculous considering that Oden hasnt played yet.
Beastly is going to be a Beast in this league and he will probably be a 20-10 guy throught out his career. But good point guards are scarce in this league and a guy like Rose who can run a team efficiently are a must when you are building a championship team. Having a good point guard will also help you sign free-agents because everybody wants to play with unselfish pass first teammates (look at jason kidd, nash, paul). Im not saying he will be better than any of them but drafting Rose could potentially lead to luring Lebron or other superstars.
Draft Rose, he will run the team and make it easier for guys like Tyrus Thomas to develop.
PS: forget about college freshmen stats.
